Inmate Text App
If you have a friend or family member who is in prison, the best way to keep in touch with them is through an inmate texting app. These apps are specially made to be compliant with prison regulations and allow family members and friends to send and receive messages and photos, eCards, video calls, and money into their trust account at the prison. There are additional federal inmate apps that offer additional services, like video visits and phone calls.
JPay lets, for instance, family and friends to send money directly into an inmate's trust account. They can also send videos, photos, emails and electronic cards. They can also create personalized postcards with their own images. And it provides a safer and more secure alternative to traditional postal mail.
Another popular inmate text app is GettingOut, which offers "simple and reliable communication" between inmates and their loved ones. The app, available in select correctional facilities allows inmates to upload images and text their family members and friends using their tablets. It costs inmates $0.25 a message, and loved ones pay for the information used to access their messages (but not for explicit photos). The GettingOut application can be used to upload a picture to Facebook or Foursquare or check-in on federal inmate text app Foursquare and even add the option of a YouTube video.
